DVDs featuring video recordings from DebConfs 5 and 6. All formal sessions from Debian Day and DebConf are included, plus some extras.
For Debconf5, see the box cover for a full listing.
For DebConf6, you can see what is on each disc by browsing the menus. The cover design is not yet complete.
The DVD images are also available for download and may be freely redistributed.
I am asking just about enough to cover my costs. The exact price depends on the number of discs you order, whether you want a box, where you need them sent, and whether you use PayPal. Use the form below to calculate a total price.
Any surpluses will be donated to the Debian UK Society on an annual basis.
I cannot offer returns, so please read this and choose carefully.
If you are going to play the discs on a stand-alone DVD player, you should get the format that matches the local video standard:
| Frame parameters | Region of world |
|---|---|
| 59.94 fields per second, interlaced; 525 lines per frame (commonly called NTSC) |
Americas except Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay; Japan; Laos; Myanmar; Philippines; South Korea; Taiwan; some Pacific islands |
| 50 fields per second, interlaced; 625 lines per frame (commonly called PAL) |
Rest of world |
Some DVD-ROM drives and DVD video players may be compatible with only DVD+R or only DVD-R media. The DVD+R discs I have recorded seem to be compatible with most drives, and I am no longer offering DVD-R. Some Samsung DVD drives cannot read them and will probably work better with DVD-R discs. These compatibility guides provide more detailed information: DVD players and recordable discs, DVD drives/players and DVD+ discs.
In Xine and players based on it such as Kaffeine and Totem, and also in Ogle, the Debconf5 sessions may be displayed incorrectly when selected from a menu. There is a separate problem with the menus on some newer DVD players that do not implement one of the methods available for freeze-framing. In both cases you can work around this by selecting a title by the number printed on the cover. Neither of these problems affects the DebConf6 discs.
