I'm not very knowledgeable about threading issues so can only rely on
my general knowledge of C++ interface design, but Herb's comments
continue to make a lot of sense to me. In particular, I feel it will
be an unmitigated disaster if we have to invent a new future type, and
we should have a real proposal in Frankfurt that is a close to final
as we can make it.
